Further research, looking and thinking go hand in hand in the design process. Each assignment has a number of inspirations to further your looking and thus your knowledge. Please look carefully at the artists / designers at hand. Objective Students will visualize Gestalt theory and recognize how it is working in the development of an non-objective, value and implied texture driven design. Other beneficial learning objectives Activate Negative Space, Scale, Value, Pattern & Rhythm in the creation of a non-objective abstract composition that emphasizes Placement Perspective and variation of value, scale and mark  Paper Orientation  = Vertical with matted interior paper plane Process Part 1   Methods for  creating  and making non-objective mark i. Using your  compass, string and yarn, draw a number of circles in varying sizes no smaller than 2" to fill one piece of Bristol ii. Experiment with different marking devices using India Ink on dry / semi-dry / dry and different tools iii.
